Policies & FAQS

Tuition

  • Courses are structured and priced with monthly tuition. Tuition is the same amount each month. We do not charge more for “long” months and less for “short” months. Over the year, all courses meet the same number of times.
  • Once a child is registered for course, his/her enrollment automatically carries over each following month. Monthly tuition is due on the first of each month.

Enrollment/Re-Enrollment

  • Enrollment is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • You may re-enroll your child from a course from which he or she withdrew at any time; however, we cannot guarantee that your child’s spot will still be available.
  • If you have taken courses with us, you can re-enroll at the same price within a period of six months from the last date on which you took a course.

Withdrawing from a Course

If you ever wish to withdraw from a course, you may do so by providing written notice (by email) 30 days prior to the upcoming billing cycle (for example, if withdrawing for October, written notice needs to be received by September 1).

Age Guidelines

The ages on the registration form are only a guideline. If you have family members who would like to take a course together, please call us to make arrangements.

Waiting Lists

A waiting list will be maintained for each course. If your first and/or second choice of course is not available, you will automatically be placed on a waiting list for that course. If a spot becomes available, we will contact families in the order the enrollments were received.

Payment

  • Enrollment will not be completed until payment has been received. A fee of $25 will be charged for returned checks.
  • The Language School accepts checks and credit cards (but not debit cards). The cards we accept are Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Please make checks payable to “The Language School.” A fee of $25 will be charged for returned checks.
  • The Language School will donate a percentage of our profits to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to help support research and bolster community awareness.

Refunds

  • If you notify The Language School in writing email of a withdrawal before the first day of a course, you will receive a full refund of tuition paid less a $25 processing fee. If you notify The Language School in writing of a withdrawal after the first day of a course but before the third class of the course, you will receive a full credit toward a future course in lieu of a refund. Withdrawals after the third class are non-refundable.
  • There are no refunds or credits for same-day cancellations.
  • For individuals taking lessons, if you decide to discontinue lessons after you have made payment, you are eligible for a refund of the fee for lessons that you have not taken less a $20 cancelation fee.
  • For group courses, there will be no refund for those who withdraw from the course after the first class. If the entire group cancels after the first class, all members of the group are eligible for a refund of the course tuition less a $14 cancellation fee for each student.
  • Refunds must be requested within 100 days of the date when payment is due. Unused lessons expire after 6 months.

Late Policy

  • If you arrive late for a lesson, the instructor is under no obligation to give you the full hour of instruction, since the instructor may have other appointments later.
  • If the instructor is late (hardly ever happens) you are entitled to the full hour.

Illness Policy

  • When your child has been ill, do not have him/her return to class until your child has been fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication such as Tylenol, Motrin, etc.  
  • If your child is placed on antibiotics, keep him/her home for 24-48 hours after starting the medication.  If your child has been vomiting or has had diarrhea, keep him/her at home for 24 hours after the last episode.  
  • Remember that viruses are spread easily in the young population and we also want to keep our teachers healthy!

Missed Classes

  • If you do not inform our office or the instructor of a schedule change or cancellation at least 24 hours before the lesson was scheduled, you are charged for the lesson. Please telephone us 203-241-7010 for cancellations and changes.
  • At the end of each lesson, agree on the date, time and location of the next lesson. If you need to change it, an email on the day of the change is not sufficient.
  • In the extremely rare case that an instructor misses a lesson, you are entitled to a free make-up lesson.
  • Please email us at KRBthelanguageschoolglobal.com so the instructor can plan accordingly. If you would like us to send you the homework, just let us know.

Cancellations

  • If you need to cancel a class,  you need to notify us within 24 hours of the date of your class, else you will be charged $79 for the cancellation class.
  • The Language School classes are automatically cancelled when there is a weather or other emergency and when Danbury, Wilton, Ridgefield, Redding Public Schools are closed. Closing notifications will be sent via email. Check your email for a detailed message from our office and /or WFSB-TV, Channel 3, for school closings.

Switching from the Classroom to Private Lessons

If you are enrolled in a classroom-based course and would like to switch to private lessons, we can apply your previous payments toward a private-lesson package. Please call us as soon as you decide to make the change, We will work with you on arranging lessons that will fit your schedule.

Discounts

  • Family members

A 15% discount will be given on the second and subsequent enrollments in the following two cases:

1)  Two or more family members are enrolled for the same course.

2)  A child is enrolled for both the fall and winter sessions and pays in full for both sessions by September 1.

  • Facilitators

Organize a group of 6 or more students and you will take the course for free. All students must register for the same course and be new students to that course. All students must be registered in advance of the start date of the course. Call 203-241-7010 for registration information. Check (preferred), Visa, American Express, Discover, and MasterCard accepted.

  • Senior Citizens

Those who are 62 years of age or older may take one class free of charge.
